    Uh oh

A .308 sure will give Ruger a run for their money.

How about a 7.62x39 that takes AK mags?

I can't wait until these are out! They are also gonna make one in 300BLK. All of these new models will be introduced at the SHOT show in January.

IDK if these are going to be part of Mossbergs standard line up or if they are going to be Davisons exclusives but there is a dizzying array of 47 models listed on their (Davidsons) website.

The synthetic youth model sounds interesting.

The "flex" model has a adjustable stock...after that lever action "thing" I'm curious to see what this looks like.

With a possible AW ban in the near future Mossberg definitely has a head start on the "tacticool" alternatives to chose from.

I most definately agree with the head start.

Localy we all took the tacticool lever as tongue in cheek :D kind of fun much like a beta C mag in a MVP ;)

Not only do they have a market advantage with the drop push feed sytem they are at the same price point position that Savage dominated in the mid 1990's

I shot my Predator again today and it's nearly the perfect gun for me. I only wish the barrel was 16". Right now it sticks out of my double AR case by about 1.5". When the patrol becomes available I plan on getting one.

I really enjoyed shooting it out to 200 yards today. I think I enjoyed it more than my AR!

Indeed it may but just how does one fit an AR-15 mag with .308 cartridges? Either Davidson's means AR-10 mags or their caliber descriptions are wrong. AR-15 mags will do 300 AAC/Blackout but definitely not .308 Win.

There was a video on you tube by davidsons that mentioned a .308 Winchester version in the works.
The did nos specify which pattern of .308/7.62 magazine it would take.

If I were a betting man I would put my money on the Original AR10/SR25 pattern as that seems to be favored over the converted M14 pattern.

For 308 maybe it means just a new magazine well that accepts AR-10 mags?

A MVP Patrol in 7.62x39 that takes AK mags would be awesome. I would have a hard time choosing this or the Patrol in 223/556.

A bolt action carbine in either caliber would be a hot item IMO especially with an AW ban in the forecast.

I am torn though the idea of a 7.62X39 that takes AK mags sounds nice, there isn't really a lot of options for decent ammo. Most of it is steel cased and not necessarily known for reliability in the sense that I think most people would want to use these rifles. Don't get my wrong, my AK is accurate, I can ring a steel plate at 300 yards with cheapy wolf, but well an AK is an AK loose tolerances and such, I think the MVP in that platform would be tough to pull off as a reliable scout/hunting/pack rifle. I am interested in seeing some of the stocks, possibility of irons and what not that come with the other versions though.

I think the MVP has enough caming force on unlock to give ample initial extraction. Coupling that with the generous taper of the 7.62x39 case makes me think mechanical reliability would be good.

The firing pin spring is pretty stout too.

I like those Enfield conversions too!

If you are dead set on 7.62 X 39 - I would recommend a different approach......

The 300 BLK, when loaded supersonic - mimics the performance of the 7.62 X 39 - except without the magazine or odd size bullet drama. So if you build it in BLK, you have 1 single component change, the barrel - and everything else stays the same. Plus, you have a .308 bore instead of .311, so bullet selection goes through the roof and includes milsurp pull-downs for the budget reloader.

So if you were set on the 7.62 and not so interested in sub sonic performance, I would do a 16-20" 1-8 to 1-10 BLK barrel and be done with it.

All that being said, a 7.62 conversion would be cool, and would open the door to another cartridge I am very fond of.....6.5 Grendel. Magazines are already there, so again - no drama besides the bolt face mods.

Roger that. I tried to view the video and had no luck, just a black screen.
