    Hello All!
Just found this forum and had to sign up immediately! I am a long time builder on Savage actions and while perusing all the websites for a donor action for a 300blk bolt build, I saw something about the MVP. I started researching and it was like this thing was meant to be a 300blk. Even at a $500 price tag, with the nice stock that already takes AR mags, I will be in this thing for less than a build on a Stevens 200!!
Okay, that's my back story...now my question. I've got a 1:8 blank from Green Mountain coming...I hear the threads on the MVP are a bit smaller than a Savage/Stevens tennon. From my couple days of research, I am coming up with .875-28TPI. Is this correct? I know I can just pull the old barrel and thread gauge it, but I want to know now!! And who knows when Buds will have them in stock again...The wait begins...Oh and will the Savage barrel nut wrench fit the MVP nut or are we looking at a strap wrench for the job? Sorry for so many questions...until 2 days ago I didn't even know this thing existed.

Welcome to the Mossberg MVP forum Dan! There is a custom rifle maker that has already converted the MVP to 300 blk, so I know it can be done. I think the post is still in the Modifications forum. As for the MVP barrel nut it looks like it takes a spanner wrench. I can post some pic of the barrel nut later this evening.

I know I am way late, but I still like putting the info out there.

The barrel tennon is 1.400" long from breech face to shoulder. There is an undercut to .825" that is .075" wide with a 45 degree blend into the threads. Breech face has a 45 degree edge break to .820" diameter. No extractor cut or any other face work besides radiusing the chamber mouth.

    The tennon threads are 7/8 X 28

    Major .8738 - .8673"

    Pitch .8506 - .8468"

    Minor .8312"

You don't happen to have any pictures of the tennon do you? If not, no biggie I can reverse engineer when I take my .204 barrel off. I have the gun in hand now and am quite impressed. If I didn't have the 300blk bug because of my 300 AR's, I am tempted to leave it .204. seems like a little laser beam. I may have to get another one in 5.56!

Sure, let me see what I can do, have not tried to post pics yet, not sure how it works on this forum. I have a website though, so worst comes to worst, I'll put them there and post a link....be a little later today.
